Shireen Seno, nagwagi bilang Best Screen Writer sa Asian New Talent Award

Inuwi ni Shireen Seno ang karangalan bilang Best Screen Writer sa Asian New Talent Award ng Ika 21 Shanghai International Festival (SIFF). Idinaos ang Awarding Ceremony sa Daning Theatre ng Haishang Cultural Center, gabi ng Hunyo 22, 2018.

Unang beses na lumahok si Seno sa SIFF. Sa panayam ng CRI Serbisyo Filipino ipinahayag niyang napakagandang plataporma ng pestibal para sa baguhang katulad niya.

Si Seno ang Direktor at Manunulat ng pelikulang Nervous Translation, entry ng Pilipinas sa nasabing kumpetisyon.

Dagdag niya, "I must say it's an amazing platform for Asian films. Coming from the Philippines it's great to be recognized on this stage. It's an honor to be recognized outside our country. And also in the region, because most of the time we look to the west for recognition. It's a different kind of high."

Bakas ang pagkagulat niya matapos marinig ang pangalan at tinawag upang tanggapin ang tropeo. Ani Seno ang pagkilala ay magsisilbing encouragement sa paggawa ulit ng ibang pelikula, sa pag connect sa ibang tao na talagang dahilan kung bakit niya isinapelikula ang Nervous Translation.

Sa kanyang speech, ikinuwento niya ang ideya sa likod ng pelikula na nagsimula sa isang panaginip. "The film started out from a dream that I had to go to relatives to ask for a pen for Nervous Translation and I thought how wonderful it would be to have such a thing. A pen that could translate the thoughts and feelings of nervous people. And I think in these modern times, a lot of the time we think or we're made to think that there are products or objects that can solve our problems. But most of the time it comes from a disconnect between the inside world and the outside world. So I just want to encourage a lot of people who don't have the courage to speak up and let themselves be heard."

Ang mensahe ni Seno sa mga aspiring screen writers, "Don't be afraid to make films that are not blockbusters, crowd pleasers. Make your own stories. Always stick to your instincts and don't try to please anyone."

Bago ang paggawad ng gantimpala, inilarawan ni Raya Martin, Filipino Juror sa Asian New Talent Award ang katangian ng isang magaling na manunulat sa pelikula. "The screenwriter really lays the foundation of a good film. A good screenwriter has a deep understanding of human nature. Someone who is observant in the world around her" aniya.

Lubos na pinasalamatan ni Shireen Seno ang jury, SIFF, mga tao sa likod ng produksyon ng Nervous Translation at ang kanyang asawa.
