On March 9, 2014, PCFC successfully held this year's Spring Welcome Party at Kro's Nest, Wudaokou. Over 30 students and young professionals had great fun in the party. The party was organized to welcome the new Pinoys in Beijing this semester. In addition to old acquaintances reconnecting, the new faces were seen quickly mingling comfortably within their newly found "second-home". Jaymes, one of the Chinese friends who attended said, "It was a great success because I've never been surrounded by so many Pinoy friends since the last time I visited Manila!"
We started the night by a humorous welcome speech by our President Austin Ong where he shared the club's history having been founded by the four groups of Pinoys in Beijing. The participants got pleasantly surprised by the tasty appetizers and the gigantic pizzas.
To get everyone to interact with each other we played a game called "The Human Bingo". To play, each participant was given a sheet of paper that contained sixteen squares. Each square would have a specific adjective that the player has to match with someone in the party by getting the others' signatures for example, "Best Looking", "Most Energetic", and "Heartbreaker". The person who would receive the most votes for each block would win a corresponding prize i.e. "Best Looking" = Mirror, "Most Healthy" = box of fruits, "Heartbreaker" = sweet candies. The prizes were a source of entertainment in themselves. First five to complete the bingo card received a Philippine Airlines luggage holder.
The party continued long into the balmy night, helped along by Oishi candies and bottomless refreshments. The after party at Steps (a bar in Wudaokou) certainly painted the town red.
Thank you to all who attended. Until the next event!
